      Altitude

Altitude and Barostar started as two companies in the same town of Morteau, in Franch-Comté. At the time, this was also the leading region in France for micro-technology.

The history of Barostar begins with the design of a watch in 1939. However, Altitude was founded a little later, in 1955. Both factories developed their unique barometer movements at the time:

Barostar in the 1950s and Altitude during the 60s. In particular the MECA barometer movement, which was developed by Altitude in the 1970s. The watch company closed down in 1980 and Barostar subsequently developed various meteorological instruments. In 1994, Barostar took over the Panchet à Paris company. Altitude successively acquired VION in 1992, Barostar in 1999 and the German Schatz 1881 in 2000. The company Delite purchased the Altitude brand in 2013.
