The pennant of Gelderland

The provincial pennant of Gelderland is a beautiful tricolor, with the colors of the coat of arms of Gelderland. The yellow, black and blue appear in three equal, horizontal stripes in the pennant. Since 1953, this flag has been the official symbol of Gelderland.

Originally, the province of Gelderland also wanted to include a duke's hat in the pennant, to symbolize the Duchy of Gelre. However, this idea was rejected by the High Council of Nobility: the provincial pennant therefore remained a simple tricolor.
