The Overijssel flag

The flag of Overijssel is a beautiful tricolor that will not look out of place on any flagpole. This flag has been the official banner of this eastern province since 1948. Just like the coat of arms of Overijssel, this flag bears the colors red, yellow and blue.

The flag plays a central role in the IJssel river, which actually only grazes the province on the western side. The river is symbolized in the flag by a blue winding line that runs horizontally across the center of the flag. Furthermore, we find two red and two yellow areas in this flag; these colors symbolize the ties between Overijssel and Holland.
