The pennant of South Holland can be called one of the most radiant pennants in the Netherlands. The bright yellow and red shine towards you as soon as you raise the pennant. Not only is this pennant one of the brightest colored provincial flags in our country, it is also one of the youngest. This flag has only been flown as the official pennant of South Holland since January 1, 1986.

Even before 1986, the colors yellow and red were already used in the pennant of South Holland: from 1948 a yellow pennant with a simple red stripe was used. The desire to assign more symbolic value to the pennant led to the pennant being changed in the 1980s: the current copy now features a lion from the coat of arms of Holland.
