The flag of North Holland

The current pennant of North Holland has been the official pennant of this province since 1958. This beautiful tricolor carries the colors that can also be found in the coat of arms of North Holland: yellow (gold), red and blue.

The colors yellow and red are typical colors in the Dutch pennants, and can therefore also be found in the pennant of South Holland. The colors yellow and blue represent the West Frisian identity that is very much alive in North Holland. The color yellow has been given the top horizontal stripe of the pennant, because the color occurs in both the palette of Dutch colors and the palette of West Frisian colors.
